Qigong practice is of benefit in the maintenance of good
health and prevention of disease. At Meridians we offer
Qigong lessons for individuals or groups.
The actual
physical actions involved in the practice of Qigong are
rather simple compared to the Taiji exercises which you may
have seen. The Qigong Master acts as a guide, the goal being
to lead the students to the point where they are able to
sense and manipulate Qi.
The Qigong lesson program may be approached in three
phases. In the first segment, called "the Six
Sounds", the student learns to sense and enhance the
flow of Qi around the inner organs. Frequent practice
ultimately leads to a better state of health and can be a
positive contribution in the prevention of many common
chronic diseases of the heart, liver, kidney, women's health
problems etc.
The next part of the program, "Unity of Heaven, Man
and Earth", will strengthen a person's mind and body
through meditation. The student will learn techniques for the
expelling of bad Qi, and the drawing in of good Qi from the
outside.
In the third phase the student is taught a series of 8
"Internal Style" Taiji forms. There is more
movement involved in these forms and they provide for
additional exercising and improvement the function of the
Meridians.
The total program requires approximately 8 - 10 sessions
to complete. The sessions can be arranged flexibly to meet
the individual's schedule and pace.
Our students report that they find the lessons relaxing,
yet strengthening at the same time. They realize very quickly
the value of working with a recognized Master.
Qigong lessons can also be tailored to support treatment
programs for particular illnesses such as breast cancer or
directed at weight loss or other specific goals.
