Eight Treasures Qigong

In Chinese Medicine, the condition of one’s “Qi” is the most critical determinant of health status. This life force is omnipresent and can be transferred and absorbed. In this series, participants learn a set of Qi Gong exercises for self-cultivation of one’s Qi. Practicing these exercises can yield benefits in maintenance of good health and prevention of disease. Studies show benefits in anti-aging, relaxation and reducing blood pressure.
Dr. Tak-chio Cheong will lead students through a set of eight movements  known as Eight Treasures Qigong (Baduan Jin).  This very ancient form, emphasizing stretching and breathing, can serve as an exercise session itself, or can be used as a warm up for more rigorous martial arts or other exercise.

  • Dr. Cheong, over 30 years of experience, is a third generation practitioner of Chinese Medicine. He obtained his Bachelors and Master degrees at Hubei College of Traditional Chinese Medicine and sees patients in Ridgefield, CT and North Salem, NY. Exercise is of course a critical component of a healthy lifestyle. Dr. Cheong will help students make the connection between this traditional practice and Chinese healing arts.
  • Debbie Dong has studied with Master Cui Yuan, Master Ren Guang-yi and others at Meridians and elsewhere and taught for several years.
